Well this is what your house looks like when you only purchase holiday decorations during the after holiday clearance sales and allow your kids to pick whatever they want in the lights department. My poor wife. Some of our neighbors go all out and we just let our freak flag fly. We got blue, red, purple, and multi colored strands + white icicles with a laser green and red projector as the icing on the cake. Ah well at least we do something (looking at you boring neighbors who do nothing). I have more lights to hang but that’ll have to wait for another day. I’m thinking about wrapping the promaster on my week of vacation coming up. Think it would look cool in the driveway all lit up.

I like the dark too much to put up Christmas lights. My neighbours across the back alley have a strand around a tree, more as a security light than anything else I think, because it’s been on all year. It’s only their summer cabin so it’s not like they’re home... I’ve been very tempted to go over and unplug it.

It looks like one of our neighbors bought out all of the leftover halloween lights. The entire front of their house glows orange.

I also let the kids help pick out decorations at the store. Behold, light-up pigs in Santa hats...

I’m ba-humbug and my wife is Tiny Tim.
I think next year I’ll have to get on the roof, for the kids sake. Don’t want them growing up in a home that didn’t put up Christmas lights because dad was a Scrooge.

Do the laser projector thing. Takes 5 minutes no ladders and it looks cool enough for the kids. If you only do one it kind of looks weak but two or three and you have a party..

I live west of the airport with planes coming in frequently, not all day but enough I don’t want to be shining lasers in their eyes.

That’s pretty much the style of my entire neighborhood (we’re fairly low-income). But there are so many houses with lights and I just love it. I have white icicles along the porch and red porch columns and a multi-colored fence and I don’t have enough outlets to do the upstairs roof outline, but that’s partly because I have 4 trees in a 6-room house. Thank god for LEDs, because all this ridiculousness hardly costs me anything.

What, just cause I like seeing the stars? It’s not like the lights are even particularly Christmassy. They’ve just got a strand of white LED’s wrapped about eight feet up the trunk of a 50' spruce. They’ve been there for the last three years, but there’s only ever someone there during the weekends in the summer, and I haven’t seen anyone there at all since September.

Before kids I made a tree shaped single string of lights thumb tacked to the wall. That was the extent of my decorations. Basically this but worst
